Updates

Cpanel11, SSL

Two major changes:-

1) We're now running Cpanel11, and have been for quite awhile. A few features still haven't been enabled, such as support for Ruby on Rails. It requires us to update to Apache2, which we plan to do in the next few days.

2) Secure connections. Whenever you try to access your control panel, you will now be directed to orbit.soltistech.com and asked to accept an SSL certificate. We have disabled non-SSL access to CPanel to add an extra layer of security for your account.

PHP 5.2.4

We're now running the latest version of PHP. eAccelerator has also been upgraded which should hopefully eliminate any existing bugs.

Apache Problems

Find yourself with only the default page when trying to visit your site? We know about it - unfortunately the configuration file went a bit crazy so we used a previous backup which did still work. It's not been the best of days so far. We've reinstalled the version of CPanel which has problems with subdomains, so try not to add any. There's a notice posted in your control panel, which will be removed when everything is once again working as it should be. The positive news: we upgraded from PHP4 to PHP5, though you shouldn't notice anything different with your site.

Kernel Updated (21:30 UTC)

The kernel was updated to the latest release at 21:30 UTC today. This may have caused minor disruption with our services.

June 6 Instability (1-4AM UTC)

Apologies to anyone who may have experienced problems accessing sites between 1-4AM, UTC (GMT0). At most, we estimate sites were inaccessible for no more than 10 minutes but the server may have been dropping some requests for a few hours afterward. It was caused by what we hoped would be a simple upgrade from PHP4.4.4 to PHP4.4.7 which unfortunately turned out to be a little more complicated than we expected. The good news is we now have PHP4.4.7 up and running. eAccelerator has also been updated to the latest stable version, and we've replaced Hardened PHP in favor of Suhosin.
